It was a cold, crisp winter morning when I decided to venture out and visit Massage Parlour Hungerford Newton – the only massage parlour in the Berkshire village of Hungerford. I had read about the place in some glossy magazines and had heard rumours of its unique and indulgent services, so decided to take the plunge, and see what all the fuss was about.
As I drove through the village, I noticed the seemingly unassuming façade of Massage Parlour Hungerford Newton, with its relatively modest signage, and I was a little apprehensive at the thought of stepping inside. Nonetheless, I decided to go ahead, and upon entering, my initial concerns were soon quelled by the comforting warmth and inviting ambience of the parlour.
The reception area was decorated in a vaguely Victorian-style, with comfortable sofas and armchairs arranged in rows around the edges, and a central table containing an array of drinks and snacks. I was immediately offered a glass of freshly brewed green tea and led through to an immaculate massage room, complete with soft lighting and sheets of silk.
In the centre of the room, I saw a massage table surrounded by candle holders and potted plants, and soon found myself welcomed by a massage therapist, who appeared to be an experienced and friendly lady called Martha.
Martha asked me to lie down on the massage table and patiently explained the various massage techniques she used, as well as the relaxing oils that would ease the tension out of my body. As I lay there on the massage table, as if in a trance, I could feel waves of pleasure and relaxation wash over me. It seemed as though Martha was unhurriedly reaching deep into my core, allowing my body to relax more and more as I was being enveloped in an atmosphere of complete relaxation.
After some time, Martha asked me to turn over and offered me a selection of oils, each one having different properties that would help with any areas of discomfort that I may have been feeling. I chose lavender oil, which proved to be quite effective; not only did it supplement the massage well, but it also made the experience calming and pleasant.
As well as the traditional massage techniques of kneading, squeezing, and rubbing, Martha also incorporated some slightly more unique treatments into my massage session. For example, she concluded by applying hot stones along my spine, which felt deeply comforting and eased any remaining tightness in my muscles.
After my massage had finished, I felt totally refreshed and ready to face the day again. I had been able to totally relax and totally forget the stresses of the day. Not only had I felt wholly revitalised, but I had also been given huge amounts of trust and understanding from Martha.
As I left the parlour, I felt relieved and rewarded with an air of calm and a sense of satisfaction. Massage Parlour Hungerford Newton had definitely lived up to its reputation and I would not hesitate to recommend their services to friends and family. It had been a truly wonderful experience and one that I will never forget.
